Music Monday // Focus

Today's Music Monday belongs to my all time fave Ariana Grande. I've mentioned my love for her before (several times in fact!) and her new single lived up to my expectations. On first listen, I was too preoccupied with the music video to her new single Focus, so hardly focused (haha get it) on the song itself. My first impression of the video was mixed. Ari has gotten so good at dancing, the choreography looked incredible and I loved the colours, background and general feel of the video. However I feel Ari's make up in the video looks patchy and too full on. She's so naturally beautiful, but i feel she was caked in make up. She also had lilac/silver coloured hair (not sure if it was hers or a wig!), but I don't think it suited her. However, these are only small points and I do love the video overall, especially Ari's outfits!
The song itself is so catchy and caught me straight away. When I first listened I loved Ari's vocals and the lyrics to the song. The song actually reminds me of her previous song Problem, but Focus is less of a girl power song and more of a pop song. I love all her music, and although Focus is not one of my favourites, I knew I would still love it and listen to it on repeat, purely because it's her song! The only criticism I have is the annoying voice in the background. The voice was revealed to be Jamie Foxx, who constantly sings in the background of the song. So many fans have been gutted with that part of the song, there has even been a remake made of the song by a fan, where the annoying voice has been cut out. However, the more I've played the song, the less the voice has bothered me. I've almost come to enjoy the voice, so don't let that put you off!

So there is my new Music Monday... a day late!  Sorry about that guys, I never had time to finish writing this post last night, but didn't want to scrap it or save it till next Monday, as I feel it would be too late to review this by then!
