Makeup Collection and Storage 2016

I know so many people do this kind of thing as a video, but I don't quite have the confidence or equipment to make this into a snazzy little YouTube video. So today's post is going to be my make up collection and storage. Personally I don't think I have a lot of makeup, having only really gotten into it in the past year or so. I just buy what I can using my wages, birthday money/Christmas money and pocket money. To some this may be a lot of make up, to some it will be barely anything. And I am not at all bragging or showing off, I just absolutely ADORE this posts/videos and wanted to share my current collection. I think it will be great to look back on in a year or so and see how my collection has changed.


So first of all, I'm going to discuss my storage. Recently my dad gave me this plastic/acrylic storage box. It's actually meant for tool storage and is from his work, so I'm afraid I can't link it. It has 2 rows of slimmer draws at the top (8 draws) which are good at fitting in single eye shadows, eyeliners and such. The bottom 2 rows of the storage box are wider (4 draws) and better at fitting in eyeshadow palettes and face products.
In this storage I keep my favourite/most used/everyday products. I do have a small container in my desk draw that holds nail polish and some make up bits I am less fond of/ones I do not really use. So in a way, this isn't all my make up stored here, but my favourite pieces.



On the top of the box I keep all my brushes (which I may talk you through in a separate post) in a white IKEA candle holder pot. I think this is perfect for storing make up brushes, as I have quite a lot now. I started collecting make up brushes (weirdly enough) before I had make up I really loved using. Next to my brushes is my current favourite moisturizer, the Nivea Rich Moisturizing Day Cream. This is perfect for dry skin, and has helped my skin immensely. In these photos, I have opened draws and put some products on display on the top that aren't usually there. The only product I do leave on the top is my NARS Highlighter. If you've been here before, you know how much I love this highlighter. It's my first NARS product and as a liquid, I find it moves around in the bottle when laid down, so I stand it up on top of the box.

Now for what's inside! I'm going to go across the rows, left to right. The first draw, top left holds my other highlighting products. It holds a previous favourite of mine, a mini Benefit Highbeam and a mini Benefit Watts Up, which is nice, but is cream form; I prefer liquid or powder highlighters. The final item in this draw is new in at the drugstore, the S&G Glow All Out highlighter stick.

The next draw holds eyeliners. It contains the Collection Extreme Felt Tip Liner, the Maybelline Master Precise felt tip eyeliner (much thinner than the Collection one) and a Rimmel Exaggerate waterproof Kohl liner in 263 Starlit Black.

The next draw holds two mini mascaras. They are the Bad Gal Lash mascara and the They're Real mascara, from Benefit. I find Bad Gal has a brush that's far too big, but I really like the They're Real mascara. I like to combine it with Lash Sensational,  which if in a separate draw.

The forth draw and the one closest to hand when I am sat in front of my mirror doing my make up in the mornings, holds hair bobbles and hair grips/booby pins.

The next row, starting from the left holds mainly eye shadows. The first draw holds my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge, which I find difficult to work with. I know a lot of people like it to blend their foundation and make it look more natural, but I don't wear a full face of foundation, so can't really get on with this. It also holds my mini Benefit They're Real mascara remover (AKA THE THE BEST THING EVER TO REMOVE TOUGH SHADOWS AND MASCARA) and the Benefit mini Porefessional, which is a primer.

The following draw holds 3 eye shadows. It holds a Barry M dazzle dust (basically like Macs loose pigment) in the shade 51/343 (it has two shades, no idea why). This is one of the first make up products I ever brought and is a gorgeous pink shimmer shadow. It then has a Models Own eyeshadow duo (with no shade!) and a KIKO metallic shine eye shadow in 06.
The next draw also holds single eye shadows! It has a Calvin Klein eye shadow in Sheer Nectar. Then there are two Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr gel-cream eye shadows in two very popular shades, 'On and On Bronze' and 'Pink Gold'.

The final draw on this row has two eye shadow sticks. The first is part of the Rimmel Kate collection and in the shade 100 Rose Gold. The second is from the Rimmel Scandaleyes collection and in the shade 011 Bluffing.

The next draw is my 'face base' draw and holds my foundation (which i don't use much). the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in the shade 010 Light Porcelain. it holds two concealers, my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection and the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer in Light. I find this two orange for me. I also holds a mini Benefit Ooh La Lift under eye brightener. There is a mini Benefit Total Moisture facial cream. I love this stuff, but it's really rich so I only use it in my problem areas, such as next to my eyes and my nose. The final product in this draw is the Natural Collection powder in Cool.

The next big draw along holds other face products. It holds a new buy, my Seventeen Define and Conquer Contour kit. I got this in light but haven't used it much as it's far too orange for me. It also holds an old favourite that has almost hit pan, the Collection highlight and sculpt contour kit in light. I went through a face of loving this as the contour is more brown under-toned than orange which suits my skin more. Now I tend to just use a matte brown eyeshadow to contour my face. The draw also holds three blushers: my old favourite Sleek blush in Rose Gold, a mini Benefit Rockatuer and a liquid cheek tint from Rimmel in 08 Rose.

The next draw and second to last draw holds eyeshadow palettes and my Collection Primed and Ready eye primer (THIS STUFF IS A GOD SEND HONESTLY) which I absolutely adore. It keeps my eyeshadow on so much longer. The eyeshadow palettes in the draw are my MAC 4x Eyeshadow palette, which currently holds one shade. One is a tiny baked eyeshadow trio from MUA, which has the most gorgeous shades in it! The trio's name is Chocolate box, but the shades are actually pink/champagne and purple toned. The final palette in this draw is The Nudes by Maybelline, a beautiful bronze/gold toned palette that contains 12 shades.

And onto the final draw! This holds a few things that just wouldn't fit into the slimmer draws. It holds my favourite kohl liner, the S&G Smoulder Kohl. This has a sharpener built in on the end which is very handy. But this means it is not long enough to go into one of the slimmer draws. It then holds a Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, a clear brow mascara from Collection and a Brow Kit from Makeup Revolution. I also holds my eye lash curlers, which I have had for years now, with no idea where they are from!

LUSH Haul

LUSH; aka the nicest smelling shop on the planet! I recently went to LUSH and though I'm not the biggest fan of baths thought I'd pick up a few items for those rare times I do have a bath. In fact, it's probably a good thing I don't like baths that much, otherwise this haul would be much bigger! :/

If you don't know what LUSH is, it's basically a bath bomb and all things baths/showers/cleanliness shop. They even sell make up, though I'm not too sure on the quality of the make up, due to the price of the make up I've never picked anything up from LUSH's make up section. The basic message behind LUSH is being against animal cruelty; all their products, everything they sell in their shops and online is animal cruelty free, meaning it was not tested on animals. This is a big bonus with LUSH, plus the reasonable (mostly reasonable) prices of their products.







The first item I picked up is one I've seen in past years, but never tried. It's the Unicorn Horn. The Unicorn Horn is a bubble bar, so you melt part of it under running water, by crumbling it in your hand. I will make this point now: I am incredibly crap at describing smells, so if you follow the links to the LUSH website product descriptions I've added, they describe the smells for you and do a much better job than I could! I have not used this yet, but bubble bars are designed to make your skin soft, and the ones I have used in the past do just that. From what I have heard this bubble bar turns your bath a gorgeous deep pink shade

The second thing I picked up was the Ladybird Bubble bar, which was part of the mother's day collection and no longer available in store! I prefer the gorgeous glittery-ness of the unicorn horn, but this bar is so cute! Shaped like a little ladybird, purple and red, this bubble bar is described to give your bath an orange/red colour. The bar contains peppermint and geranium, but it's overall smell is a mixture of peppermint and something sweet. It's a very typical, Snow Fairy sort of LUSH smell. It also smells slightly floral! (See i told you my smell skills weren't great, but the website doesn't stock/show this product anymore so I've had to fend for myself!). When it was in store, it cost £3.95.

The third and final product I picked up was the Melting Marshmallow Bath Oil. This is so diddy and cute and only cost me £2! It smells (obviously) like marshmallow mixed with candy floss and is very sweet. The bath oils are designed to give you a relaxing bath and sooth your skin to make it soft. Just pop it into the bath and relax, watching it melt. The bright colours make it eye catching and I can't wait to try this!

Music Monday // AG is back

Continuing my segment of Music Monday's, where I tell you guys what I've been loving in terms of music recently, today's post it about my all time fave, Ariana Grande and her incredible new album.

So AG recently released two songs of her new album as singles. The album was going to be called Midnight, but she changed the name to Dangerous Woman. In an interview I watched, Ari said she felt the new title represented her more and what she stood for. You can guess instantly from the album title that Ari is all about woman power. In fact one of my favourite interviews she has done, she shows just how much she cares about equality. I LOVE that her new album is all about what she stands for and I can't think of a better issue her music should help solve.

The first song she released is called Dangerous Woman and clearly the main influence for the whole album title. First off, I love everything about the album cover:

She looks stunning and her make up is to die for. I lover the whole black and white and old fashioned vibe that accompanies the album cover, plus she is absolutely rocking the bunny ears (though I'm not sure how they are relevant!)

The song is true feminist anthem, upbeat, snazzy and just plain modern. I adore this song and her vocals are absolutely incredible. Below I'm going to leave the music video (known as visual 1) which she literally released in the UK yesterday! It is a good music video, but I personally prefer the video that accompanies her A Capella version of 'Dangerous Woman.' Check both out (shown below) as they are freaking insane.

The second song Ari has released is called 'Be Alright'. Though I prefer Dangerous Woman, I think the beat to this song, like the background music, is the best beat I have heard on such a pop song. Fast paced and light hearted, this song just holds the message that no matter what, everything will be alright in the end.  This kinda reminds me of Ari's older music and I am totally okay with that!

Overall I am loving Ari's new singles and I can't wait to here the whole album! She will always remain one of my favourites and her live vocals are freaking insane :)

FOTD // 2nd April 2016

Hope everyone has had a lovely start to their Easter! I'm absolutely loving blogging right now, as you can probably tell from the amount of posts I've uploaded. I'm currently on my Easter Half term, so not at college and finding I have more time to blog and do things that are a little more interesting for the blog! Today's FOTD is using many products I have reviewed recently. As you can see from the photo, I have my hair up. When I do have my hair up, I tend to go for a more dramatic make up look, rather than keeping it subtle, purely to compensate for the fact that my hair is just thrown up ;) That's why I'm wearing a darker lip than I usually would in Spring.

Face:

On my face I am wearing my usual base of Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer where I need to cover and concealer, plus my Natural Collection powder to set the concealer.
I have contoured using a new kit I got; the Seventeen Define And Conquer Contour Kit, in the light shade. Once again, this is still too orange for me, though it is the least orange toned contour I have found, so i just use this very lightly on my cheekbones.
The blush I am wearing is Benefit's Rockatuer blush,
I primed my eyes using another new buy, the Collection Primed and Ready eye primer. This is incredible and only cost me £3.99!
I highlighted using my absolute baby, the NARS Copacabana Highlighter.

Eyes:
On my lids I am wearing the shade 'Camel' from the W7 In The Buff eyeshadow palette. I blended this shade out and have dragged it under my eye too. I love doing this as I feel it makes my eyes look bigger and greener.
On my lashes I am wearing a combination of Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara and Benefit's They're Real Mascara.
On my lower lash line I am wearing my trusty S&G Smoulder Kohl liner.
As mentioned in my last post, I have used the same eyeshadow shade from my Makeup Revolution kit to fill in my brows and set them with the Collection Clear Mascara.

Lips:
Finally, on my lips I am wearing a product I reviewed the other day. Funnily enough, in this review I said I felt this product wasn't a good shade for me. However, I decided to give it another try and discovered I really like it! It's the Kiko Cream Colour Comfort Lip Liner in 315, a gorgeous deep plumy pink colour. This lasts for ages on my lips and I really like the creamy consistency when I first apply it. It has quite a thick end for a lip liner which I find easier to use than a very thin lip liner.
